Congratulations to "C3" for winning the Dranoff Goes Green design contest. Members of this team include Courtney Robinson, Candace Spence and Christine Murray. Their design will be installed into the Hospitality Suite at 777 South Broad in February, with the first showing to the public at our Ribbon Cutting in March 2010.

This is our team Sophista-Phunk at the final with our boards ready to present to the jury. Although we did not win the competition, we are very pleased to have been able to work on this project and impressed with every teams results.

Hello hello! Team Lux (Diana Dougherty, Ashleigh Bradshaw, and Giselle Hipkins) wanted to share what was presented at the midterm. Here are two of our boards that show the Master Bedroom and Living Room. Don't forget our concept is sustainable luxury! We feel the concept is exhibited in our furniture selections and custom pieces like the wine storage under the bar height counter in the kitchen and the hanging crystals behind the master bed. The crystals are lit from above in an upholstered cornice! We think these spaces are fabulous. What do you think?

Hello fellow classmates. Here's a sample of what our team presented for the midterm. Since most of you were not present in our presentation, here's what we talked about.
Our design is basically for an architect who lives alone and loves to travel. So we took Urban Nature (our concept) and merged it with our target audience.

We're still working on our presentation and trying for our design to match the budget restrictions. We wish you all good luck and would really appreciate any type of feedback.

The owner, Sandi is excited to work with us on the Dranoff Goes Green project and will be updating us on companies she works with so we can access some information on-line. Our team Sophista-Phunk is comprised of Francesca Caccavale, a senior in the Interior Design program, Valerie Luu, a junior in the BS/MS program for Interiors, and Sarah Martin who is also a junior in the BS/MS program for Interiors. Our design concept for 777 South Broad is "To expand a living space through the use of pattern and scale, while creating a fun and sophisticated environment."

Hey all,

Our team name is C3 and is comprised of Candace Spence, Christine Murray, and Courtney Robinson. All three of us are juniors in the Interiors program at Drexel. Christine graduated high school knowing she wanted to study interior design. However, Candace and Courtney transferred to Drexel to pursue their passion for design. We are all eager to work together on this groundbreaking opportunity.

Our concept is:
To design a space that is inspired by the art and philosophy of feng shui, by incorporating pieces that create synergy and stability in a sleek, contemporary style.

Hi Everyone! We are Team Pops.

Our team leader is Ashley Zepp. She is a senior in the Interior Design Program at Drexel.
Mary Elizabeth Reh is currently a junior in the Interior Design Program at Drexel and is from Abington, PA.
Shauna Capen is also a junior in the Interior Design Program at Drexel and is from Massachusetts.

Our concept for the apartment: A sustainable design based on the surrounding city architecture and brought to life by colorful pops of Philadelphia personality.

I wanted to share with everyone the most recent news on 777 South Broad.

On Sunday, October 4th, Philadelphia Inquirer Real Estate Writer Alan J. Heavens published a feature story on 777 South Broad. He highlighted the building’s world class amenities, neighborhood location “seven minutes from everywhere” and unique luxurious loft style.

Stay tuned, I'm sure we'll see 777 South Broad in the news again!

Hello everyone!

Our team name is Three's Company.
Our leader is graduate student Antonio Hache. He has a bachelor's in architecture and is a licensed professional.
Stephanie West is a third year Interior Design major. She lived in France for seven years, inspiring her to become a designer.
Jacqueline Menges is also a third year design major.

Our concept is Urban meets Nature. We are trying to being the outside in using materials and textures without being too literal.

This fall, undergraduate interior design students at Drexel University are embarking on a term-long challenge to design the ultimate green living space for the hospitality suite at Dranoff Properties’ LEED-registered 777 South Broad.

This Blog is designed to help students share their experience designing the ultimate green living space.

During the challenge, groups of students in Professor Debra Ruben’s Competition Studio class will compete against one another to design a space that meets standards in sustainability, function, and budget. Ruben is a LEED AP and head of Drexel’s Interiors Program sustainability curriculum. Design plans will be judged by a jury comprising Dranoff; Katherine Gajewski, Director of Sustainability for the City of Philadelphia; and Kerri-Lee Halkett, anchor of Philadelphia’s Fox-29 News, design junkie, and lover of all things green, and Daniel Garofalo, University of Pennsylvania’s Environmental Sustainability Coordinator and Senior Facilities Planner. Dranoff Properties will install and assemble the winning design in the hospitality suite, ready for the opening of 777 South Broad in Spring 2010.

Students will be divided into five groups of three. They will be required to apply their knowledge of sustainability, light, space, and human needs to design the two-bedroom, 1,100 square-foot suite on a $15,000 budget. Students will source green products, including furniture, accessories, household appliances, bedding, linens, lighting, electronics, and so on. They will incorporate these products into their designs, research their environmental impact, and contact manufacturers for availability.

Throughout the class, professionals in the field of green building, construction, interior design and project management will serve as a panel of advisors. Advisors will guide site tours, provide site plans and renderings, offer professional design consultation, and provide vendor contacts. At the end of the semester, students will present their plans to the jury. Submissions will be judged for suitability of design to the project challenge, originality of design solution, and successful integration of interior finishes and furnishings. Winners will be announced in December. Students will receive class credit and a grade for their participation.
